Poor Farm Hygiene: A leading Cause of Biosecurity Failure in Pig Production

Are These Challenges Impacting Your Swine Operation?

  • Increased incidence of disease outbreaks
  • Suboptimal daily weight gain and feed conversion
  • Higher veterinary and treatment costs
  • Reduced overall herd health and welfare
  • Potential for waterborne pathogen transmission
  • Challenges in maintaining consistent hygiene standards

Drinking Water Contamination: A Hidden Risk for Waterborne Pathogen Outbreaks on Pig Farms

Recognize the Risks Lurking in Your Swine Drinking Water?

  • Waterline Biofilms: Harbor and protect harmful bacteria, reducing water treatment effectiveness
  • Drinking water sources and access points can introduce biosecurity risks
  • Reduced Water Availability: Dirty lines can physically restrict water flow to animals
  • Impaired Treatment Efficacy: Poor water quality can decrease the effectiveness of water-administered medications
  • Contamination Sources: Filters, medicators, stock solutions, feeders, and drinkers can all be points of contamination
  • Additive Contributions: Vitamins, probiotics, and other additives can fuel biofilm growth and microbial proliferation

Swine Prime:

Your Solution for Proactive Hygiene and Addressing Water Hygiene for a Healthier Herd

Swine Prime Program reduced piglet mortality at both, maternity and nursery periods

Data for the "Control" group reflects the farms' pre-existing hygiene protocols (alkaline cleaner + disinfectants based on glut-QAC, phenol, and PAA for barns; hypochlorite and hydrogen peroxide for water). The "Swine Prime" group data is based on the CID LINES, An Ecolab Company sanitary stop program using Kenosan, Virocid?, and CID 2000. This linear trial was conducted across 4 Spanish farms, comparing 2 Control batches followed by 6 Swine Prime batches sequentially within each farm.

-16%

Reduction of mortality during suckling period

-14%

Reduction of mortaility during nursery period

Swine Prime Program supported a healthier production with less antibiotic use

The "Control" group reflects the farms' existing hygiene (barns: alkaline cleaner + glut-QAC, phenol, PAA disinfectants; water: hypochlorite, hydrogen peroxide). The "Swine Prime" group implemented a CID LINES, An Ecolab Company sanitary stop program (Kenosan, Virocid™) including drinking water line cleaning and disinfection. This linear trial in 4 Spanish farms compared 2 Control batches followed by 6 Swine Prime batches sequentially per farm.

-4.7 times less

Medication consumed during maternity period

-1.5 times less

Medication consumed during nursery period

Achieve Superior Disease Prevention, Reduced Antimicrobial Use, Lower Mortality, and Improved Performance with Swine Prime.
