Innovating for a greener paint shop

A Sticky Problem

During the last decade, the Automotive Industry has increasingly demonstrated a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. In particular, many programs and procedures have been put in place to help meet sustainability targets to reduce the consumption of natural resources and associated emissions and waste. Paint detackification systems, used in automotive paint booth maintenance to float or sink paint residue to aid in cleanup and disposal, have been an area of particular interest.

For years, paint detackification systems were treated with melamine formaldehyde. But concern was growing among environmentally conscious manufacturers about the potential environmental impact of formaldehyde. Working in close partnership with our customers, we saw the need for a more environmentally sound alternative - and we got to work.
